How to Transfer Domain Name to New Registrar
How to Transfer Domain Name to New Registrar
In this article I’m going to explain the steps involved to transfer domain
name from one registrar to another. If you have couple of domain names, it is
better to keep all of them in a single registrar. Below mentioned steps are
common and can be applied to all the top domain registrars.
1. Purchase Domain Transfer At The Your New Registrar
Normally if you purchase a domain transfer, your new registrar will let you to
keep all the time remaining on your existing registration and provide One-Year
free extension. After the purchase of domain transfer, your domain at the new
registrar will require an Authorization Code. Your new registrar will send an
email to you which contains “Transaction ID” and “Security Code”.
2. Request Authorization Code At Current Registrar
Login to your current registrar account and request for Authorization Code. But
remember you should have turned off the domain protection or your domain should
be unlocked before requesting the authorization code from the current registrar.
3. Authorization Code Received From Current Registrar
You will receive an email from current registrar with “Authorization Code”. Now
you can begin the domain transfer from the new registrar using the authorization
code. Login to your new registrar and begin the transfer process. Then the new
registrar will display the status as “Authorization Required” and choose “ Begin
Transfer Authorization”(Recommended).
Now enter the authorization code that you received from the current registrar
through mail and complete the process. After completing this step, the status
will be displayed as “Pending Current Registrar approval” and choose “Accept
transfer at current registrar” (Recommended).
4. Email Notification From Current Registrar
After completing all these steps, you will receive an email from your current
registrar confirming your transfer request. You don’t need to take any action if
you want to accept the transfer. If you wish to cancel the transfer, follow the
link provided in the email.
You will receive an email like this :
We received notification on November, 2006 5:11:27 PM EDT that you have
requested to transfer to another domain name registrar. If you would like to
proceed with this transfer you do not need to respond to this message…..
…..If we do not hear from you by July 5, 2008 7:21:44 PM EDT, this transfer
will proceed. We are committed to providing you with the solutions, services,
and support to help you succeed online. We hope to continue serving you in the
future.
5. Domain Transfer Completed To New Registrar
You will get a confirmation email from your new registrar received approximately
four days after initiating the transfer at the current registrar. Remember that
the current registrar has up to 5 days to release the transfer of the domain.
Have you ever transferred a domain name to a new registrar? If so, please
share your experience here.
Change Your IP Address
Operating System |
Steps to Change the IP Address |
Windows 9x/Me users |
Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Network -> Network card -> TCP/IP -> IP address |
Windows XP/2k users |
Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Network Connections -> Local Area Connection -> Properties -> Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). |
Red Hat Linux |
Go to System Tools -> Network. You could also use tools as 'linuxconf' or 'netcfg'tool. |

MAKE MOZILLA FIREFOX FASTER
Here's something for broadband people that will really speed Firefox up:
1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:
network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.
2. Alter the entries as follows: Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true" Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true" Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.
3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount
of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.
If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages 2-3 times faster now.
How To Increase Your Internet Speed By 20%
If programs refuse to install, won't appear on your desktop, can't seem to
run without freezing, don't load at a decent speed or function properly,
or Internet access is unavailable, here's how to troubleshoot:
1. Wallpapers: They slow your whole system down, so if you're willing to compromise, have a basic plain one instead!
2. Drivers: Update your hardware drivers as frequently as possible. New drivers tend to increase system speed especially in the case of graphics cards, their drivers are updated by the manufacturer very frequently!
3. Minimizing: If you want to use several programs at the same time then minimize those you are not using. This helps reduce the overload on RAM.
4. Boot Faster: The 'starting Windows 95/98' message on startup can delay your booting for a couple of seconds. To get rid of this message go to c: and find the file Msdos.sys. Remove the Read-Only option. Next, open it in Notepad or any other text editor. Finally, go to the text 'Options' within the file and make the following changes: Add BootDelay=0. To make your booting even faster, set add Logo=0 to remove the Windows logo at startup.
5. Restart only Windows: When restarting your PC, hold down Shift to only restart Windows rather than the whole system which will only take a fraction
of the time.
6. Turn Off Animations: win98.jpg Go to Display Settings from the Control
Panel and switch to the Effects Tab. Now turn off Show Windows Content While Dragging and Smooth Edges on Screen Fonts. This tip is also helpful with Windows XP because of the various fade/scroll effects.
7. Faster Start-Menu Access: Go to the Start menu and select Run. Now type Regedit and hit Enter. The Registry Editor will appear on the screen. Now, open the folder HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelDesktop. You should see
a MenuShowDelay value. If you don't then do the following: right click on a blank space in the right pane and select NewString. Change the name in the new value to MenuShowDelay. Now that we have the MenuShowDelay value, double click on it and enter 0 in the value data field. This sets the start menu delay to 0 milliseconds.
8. Resolutions: If you are willing to do anything for faster performance from your PC, then try lowering your display resolution. The lower it is, the faster your PC.
9. Turn off Active Desktop: win98.jpg Go to your Display Properties and switch to the Web tab. Uncheck View My Active Desktop As a Web Page. Since the Active Desktop option under Windows 98 uses a lot of system resources, this option can have a dramatic effect on the speed of the whole system.
10. Defragment Often: win98.jpg Windows 98's Defrag tool uses Application Acceleration from Intel which means that when you defragment your drive, data is physically arranged on the drive so that applications will load faster.

XP Delays When Opening Folders
You might notice that when you open folders there is a slight delay between when you click them and when they open. This is because your computers automatically searching for network folders and printers every time something is opened.
Here are the steps to disable this:
1. Click Start
2. Click "My Computer"
3. Click "Tools" to pull down the Tools menu
4. Click "Folder Options"
5. Click the "View" tab
6. Uncheck the box next to where it says "Automatically search for network folders and printers"
7. Click "Apply"
8. Click "OK"
Windows XP didn’t give you a way to conveniently log in if you had forgotten your password and required you to go search for third-party tools. Fortunately, Vista allows you to easily create a “Password Reset” disk should you forget your login password. You can even use your iPod or USB memory disk as a computer key!
If you can do this on your own, just press Ctrl + Alt + Delete > Change a Password > Create a Password Reset Disk. Follow the step-by-step wizard and you’re all set.
If you want to follow this tutorial step-by-step, then create a Reset Disk following these steps instead.
1) Click on Start Pearl and type this in the Search bar: control.exe /name Microsoft.UserAccounts
or
Classic Control Panel View: Start > Control Panel > User Accounts
Normal Control Panel View: Start > Control Panel > User and Family Safety > User Accounts
2) Click on Create a Password Reset Disk on the left panel.
3) Click next and you will be asked to choose where you want your password key disk saved. I recommend you choose a form of removable media such as a floppy or a USB disk.
4) Make sure the selected disk is still in the drive, then enter your current user account password.
5) Click Next and let Windows do its thing.
Once you create the password disk, any other password disks you’ve created in the past won’t work anymore. You must use the one you have just created. So what do you do when you actually have forgotten your password? When you log in, purposely get your password wrong and click OK when you get prompted for a wrong password. Then a new link will appear at the bottom that says Reset Password. Click that and follow the step-by-step wizard to reset your password. You should have no problem at all getting back into Vista.

Restarting Windows Without Restarting Your PC
A modern PC with Vista Home Edition takes about one and a half minutes to boot. An older machine
with XP is about the same. That’s 30 seconds for the PC itself (the BIOS) to boot up, plus a minute for
the Windows operating system to boot.
Sometimes, you need to reboot Windows (e.g. when installing new software), but there is no need to restart BIOS, too. However, the default is to reboot both. (That’s called doing a “cold boot,” rather than
a “warm boot.”) There’s a trick that works on both XP and Vista to get it to do a warm boot instead, thus saving you 30 seconds per cycle.
The trick is to hold down the SHIFT key when invoking the restart.
Windows Vista: Select Start, then hover over the right arrow that is to the right of the padlock icon until
the pop-up menu appears that contains “restart” as one of it’s choices. Hold down the SHIFT key while clicking on the “restart” choice.
Windows XP: Select Start. Select “Shut Down…”. Change the drop-down combo box under “What do
you want the computer to do?” to “Restart”. Hold down the SHIFT key while clicking on the “OK” button.
Optimize Firefox and IE Browsing Speed
I shall be teaching you two tricks which work separately on Firefox and Internet Explorer. It doesn't require you to be some expert rather all you have to do is change some registry values and you are done. I have also included a video tutorial for those who want to see it step by step visually. This is perhaps one of the oldest tricks to optimize Firefox and IE but it still works great.
Trick to Increase Firefox Speed
1. Open Firefox and in the address bar write about:config and press enter
2. Double click network.http. pipelining and set it to True
3. Double click network.http. pipelining. maxrequests and set value to 10 from 4
4. Right click and create a new string nglayout.initialpai nt.delay and set its value to 0
You are done. Enjoy lightning fast Firefox browsing and now for IE.
Trick to Increase Internet Explorer Speed
1. Go to Start –> Run and type regedit
2. Select HKEY_CURRENT_ USER –> Software –> Microsoft –> Windows –> Current Version –> Internet Settings
3. Increase the values (DECIMAL) from default to a higher value e.g. 10

How to access FTP servers without any software
FTP is used for transfer of large files. Bloggers and webmasters use FTP frequently for uploading files to their server space all the time.
FTP transfers usually involve some software installed on the computer. The method usually involves connecting to a particular host server URl, and entering the username and password for access. FTP transfers may be primitive (they do not have much security), but they are still widely used. Imagine yourselves in this situation : you are at a friend's house or a browsing cafe, and need to access your server immediately (perhaps for uploading WP-Cache during a spike, for example). Do you wait until the download of FTP software is complete? That is a complete waste of time.
There is an easier way to access FTP servers - without any third-party software. All that you require is the humble Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer (either of them can be used). To access any FTP server, enter the following (replace server with the domain/subdomain):
FTP://FTP.server.com
Once you enter this, a dialog box will come up, and you can fill out the user name and password and click Log On.
If you're still not convinved of using this method, try out FileZilla , a free, open-source software
Turn Off Hibernation
Hibernation is a feature that allows your system to shut down quickly and save everything that is open in the RAM to be stored on the hard drive until the computer is powered on again.
XP and 2000 use a file called hiberfil.sys to save everything it needs when they go go into hibernation. If you never use the hibernate function, you can turn it off.
When this feature is disabled, the hiberfil.sys file is deleted. This can free up the as much disk space as the amount of ram that you computer has. For example, if you have 1GB of RAM, you could be freeing up to 1GB of hard drive space.
In XP, go to Control Panel > Power Options > Hibernation and uncheck / Enable hibernation.
In 2000, go to Control Panel > Power Options > Hibernate / tab and uncheck / Enable hibernate support.
If you should want to re-enable hibernation, go back in and check / Enable hibernation in XP or Enable hibernate support in 2000.
The Windows XP user interface has some learning features, whereby it will customize itself to fit your computing style. One of the most obvious examples of this is the frequently used programs section on the bottom left side of the start menu, where shortcuts for the programs you have most recently used are displayed. Normally, this section only has room for about six program icons, but it's a fast and handy way to access your software, so why not add more?
Windows XP Interface Tips
To increase the amount of icons in the frequently used programs list right click on the start menu and choose 'properties. ' Select the 'customize' button to the right of the 'start menu' option.Change the 'select an icon size for programs' option to 'small icons' and in the 'number of programs on start menu' counter below, enter a new value based on how many icons you would like to see. Realistically, depending on your desktop resolution you are not likely to be able to fit more than 15 or so icons here, but enter a higher number if you wish. The system will cut off what it can't display. Hit 'ok' and enjoy your newly useful start menu.
2. Remove the Frequently Used Programs List From the Start Menu
In complete contradiction to the previous tip, this will show you how to wipe out the frequently used programs section of the start menu altogether. The trouble with this feature is that it only shows the programs you have last used. You have no control over it other than to use your programs frequently. The 'pinned' programs section above the frequently used programs section of the start menu, on the other hand, displays whatever shortcuts you want it to.
To obtain more space for pinned programs, you can remove the frequently used programs completely.
To do this open Regedit:
Navigate to 'HKEY_CURRENT_ USERSoftware Microsoft WindowsCurrentV ersionPolicies Explorer' .
Create a new DWORD value called 'NoStartMenuMFUprog ramsList' and give it the value '1'.
Reboot or restart the explorer process to enable this tip. Now you have much more start menu space to drag and drop your own shortcuts.
Laser Printer Cleaning Tips
Laser printer is the fastest, high quality and more expensive than inkjet printers and their printer quality is also higher.
The print quality and printing speed of laser printers make ideal for offices and business. The printer is the most commonly used output device in office environment. That is why printer required extra care as compare to the other parts of the computer. There is no any difficulty to clean a printer if you have proper cleaning tools and methods.
Never place your printer on the ground, always use table or shelf for this purpose.
If you have the printer manufacturer manual, first read about on how to safe and clean it.
Now disconnect your printer from the back side of the computer and unplug power from the electrical outlet.
First use the compressed air to clean dust, toner powder from the outside and inner side of the printer.
Use lightly dampened cloth or cleaning fluid to clean the body of the printer and avoid to spraying fluid near any holes on the printer.
Use paper towel to clean the toner and brush to clean the inside of the printer.
Always cover your printer with dust cover when you are not using it.
Decoding Error Messages - Web
As you surf the Net, you will undoubtedly find that at times you can't access certain websites. Why, you make wonder? Error messages attempt to explain the reason for that and other problems. Unfortunately, these cryptic messages baffle most people. We've deciphered the most common ones:
400 - Bad Request
Problem: There's something wrong with the address you entered. You may not be authorized to access the web page, or maybe it no longer exists.
Solution: Check the address carefully, especially if the address is long. Make sure that the slashes are correct (they should be forward slashes) and that all the names are properly spelled. Web addresses are case sensitive, so check that the names are capitalized in your entry as they are in the original reference to the website.
401 - Unauthorized
Problem: You can't access a website because you're not on the guest list, your password is invalid or you have entered your password incorrectly.
Solution: If you think you have authorization, try typing your password again. Remember that passwords are case sensitive.
403 - Forbidden
Problem: Essentially the same as a 401.
Solution: Try entering your password again or move on to another site.
404 - Not Found
Problem: Either the web page no longer exists on the server or it is nowhere to be found.
Solution: Check the address carefully and try entering it again. You might also see if the site has a search engine. If so, use it to hunt for the document. (It's not uncommon for pages to change their addresses when a website is redesigned.) To get to the home page of the site, delete everything after the domain name and hit the Enter or Return key. For example, if the address is:
http://yahoo.com/index. php/internet/ decoding- error-messages- 22102008. html
Remove English/HTML/ email.htm.
503 - Service unavailable
Problem: Your Internet service provider (ISP) or your Internet connection may be down.
Solution: Take a stretch, wait a few minutes and try again. If you still have no luck, phone your ISP or system administrator.
Windows XP-Cleaning Up Unwanted Start Up Programs
Many freeware and commercial software programs have a habit of setting themselves up to run automatically upon Windows startup. This can contribute to the gradual decline in startup speed that most Windows XP systems (and windows PCs in general) experience. Also, having programs that you only use selectively, or not at all, load automatically is a waste of system resources that could be better used for other things.
To top it off, many internet nasties such as spyware programs, viruses and Trojan horses will install themselves into one of the automatic start locations on your system in order to make sure that they are run on startup. So the point is, take a look at what is currently running every time you load your PC, and disable what you don't need or can't identify.
To do this: The first place you should go is 'startprogramsstartup' which is a directory Windows XP uses to launch application shortcuts on boot-up.
If you remove the shortcuts from this directory, the applications will not load on startup. This directory can also be a repository for various badness such as spyware and virus software, so if there are files here which are not shortcuts and you don't recognize them, you may wish to consider removing them anyways, as Windows will not place critical files in this directory.
The next location for removing unnecessary startup files is the handy MSCONFIG utility that has been resurrected from the graveyard of Windows 9x especially for XP.
Go to 'startrun' and type 'msconfig' to access the utility.
The 'startup' tab in MSCONFIG provides access to several other applications that are started at boot up and are running in the background. By examining their Filenames and directories, you should be able to get a feeling for what is necessary and what is not. Be aware than several viruses and worms have a habit of disguising themselves with authoritative sounding Windows system file names.
The other method for removing these programs is through the programs themselves, as many applications, for example MSN messenger, contain the option to remove the software from startup
The card will be available on HP workstations or as a standalone for other existing and future systems, and includes two DisplayPort outputs as well as one Dual Link DVI-I output. Each DVI output supports 18-, 24-, and 30-bit digital displays at resolutions up to 2560x1600 and has a dual-link HDCP encoder for playback of copy-protected content. Compared to the older FireGL V7700, however, the new card loses the HD component video output.
The FirePro V7750 also accelerates ATI Stream applications, taking load off the CPU by using the GPU for specific computing-intensive tasks. High Dynamic Range (HDR) rendering with 8-bit, 10-bit and 16-bit-per-RGB color component is supported; users can draw own full Shader Model 4.1 support for vertex and pixel shaders. There remains a unified video decoder for high-definition H.264, AVC, VC-1 and MPEG-2 video formats.
The ATI FirePro V7750 currently supports Windows XP, Windows Vista and Linux systems and ships now for $899
